ImprovBoston supersizes space, with some regrets
Clutching a stack of blueprints, Elyse Schuerman enters the former Japanese grocery store in Central Square and gestures at the outlines of a future showplace for local comedy. Drills whine and steel beams clatter as workers transform the space into two theaters that will be the new home of ImprovBoston. The comedy club, which was formed as an itinerant group for improvisational theater in 1982 and has since established itself as a breeding ground for such comedic talents as Jane Curtin and Steven Wright, plans to move from Inman next month. The new lobby will boast a bar serving alcoholic beverages; the entrance and bathrooms will be accessible to wheelchairs; and the main cabaret stage, which will line the long wall of the rectangular theater, will comfortably seat 100 people.
Students can now carry plastic for purchases at Severn School
There are 585 students in grades six through 12 at Severn, an independent private college-preparatory day school in Severna Park. Since the beginning of February, about 80 students have enrolled in the card program. which is optional, Mrs. Pinnix Fish said. The card bears the student's name, identification number, photo and a bar code. It can be clipped to a lanyard. Currently, a separate photo identification card is given to all students. Mrs. Pinnix Fish said she loves the new system. "We're the first school in the area to offer this service in our cafeteria and bookstore," she said. "From a control standpoint, it's a good thing not to be carrying cash. It's a service we can offer to our students and their families." The program was not cheap.

DuPont Acquires Chemtura Fluorine Chemicals Business
WILMINGTON, Del., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- DuPont (NYSE: DD) today announced that it has completed its purchase of Chemtura Corporation's fluorine chemicals business. The move is part of DuPont's strategy to expand its fluorochemicals business offerings; enhance its presence in specialty businesses such as the fire extinguishants, pharmaceutical propellants and fluoro-intermediate markets; and leverage the assets and technologies included in the acquisition for the development of more sustainable fluorochemical materials, such as low global warming potential mobile air-conditioning fluids, foam expansion agents and refrigeration technologies. Financial terms were not disclosed. The acquisition includes all of Chemtura's fluorine business, along with the fluorine chemicals production unit that is part of Chemtura's manufacturing site in El Dorado, Ark., which will be fully integrated into DuPont's operations.
Teenager nabbed for old woman's murder
The police had been looking for drug addicts of the similar age groups in the vicinity for the past two days, and the recovery of the empty vials and used condoms led the police to the accused. While addressing mediapersons the DSP (Central), Mr S.S. Randhawa, said the accused was arrested from the Sector 15 market while he was returning from a stationery shop after buying the white fluid. He was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate and was later sent to the Sector 15 Juvenile Home. During the preliminary questioning, he revealed the names of two other accomplices aged between 18 and 19 years, who were also drug addicts. According to the DSP, the boy said they had planned the entire episode and were waiting for an opportunity to strike. On August 31, they entered into the victim's house at around 9 pm and committed the crime.
