Mayor Ousted: Bartlesville City Council votes to strip title from Ron ...

We are networked through work internationally and there are so many people from here to Indonesia, Kazakhstan, London--you name it--and back, who email us one disastrous recollection followed by another--the experiences they had living here. Well, good riddance to Bartlesville--we say--and hello to better paying jobs (with sign on bonuses of a years' salary and more) in a real city! We will not miss this town! But it has been nice knowing you, Brady, and we are all so appreciative of your efforts to bring the BCC and Bartlesville into the 21st century. Nice blog, too, and it is nice to be able to share the way that we feel somewhere where it is 'safe'. I'm sure you can understand that we have to be careful and very discrete. In fact, I am borrowing a friend of mine's computer to type this now.

Moffitt House got up and went

If you think you saw an old, two-story house moving along a Hallandale Beach road Sunday morning, you weren't hallucinating.

It was actually the 90,000-pound, 102-year-old Moffitt House.

Local historians say it is Broward County's second-oldest standing residence after the Stranahan House in Fort Lauderdale.

Developers moved all 2,450 square feet of the historic home, made of sturdy Dade County pine, from its original location at 134 S. Dixie Hwy. to a few blocks south next to another historic home, the 84-year-old Curci House at 324 SW Second Ave. The hourlong feat was accomplished by Brownie Moving and Heavy Hauling, based in Fort Pierce.

''It went very smoothly,'' said developer Richard Shan, 45, noting the event had been planned for about a year.

Murders, misdemeanor battery cases fill dockets at courthouse

In addition to the felony murder charges, Hall also faces 17 other counts, including attempted murder, driving under the influence, unlawfully taking a vehicle, evading and assaulting a peace officer and assault with a deadly weapon by means likely to produce great bodily injury. At the time of the crashes, records show Hall was on probation for battery on a sheriff's deputy.

Hall faces a possible sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole if convicted.

At the Antelope Valley juvenile courthouse, one family will be protesting bright and early, hoping to get their message across to the courts that teens who commit murder should be tried as adults.

A fitness hearing is scheduled today to determine whether two minors are fit to be tried as adults for the murder of a 22-year-old Palmdale man.

Republican scramble turns to S.C.

GREENVILLE, S.C. - It's been just a little more than two weeks since Mike Huckabee's breakthrough victory in the Iowa caucuses. But the way the Republican presidential race has been going, it seems a lifetime ago.

So he is eager to pick up win number two in today's South Carolina primary. And with polls showing him closing in on John McCain, Huckabee sounds increasingly confident he will be able to do it, weather permitting.

While a daylong rain is predicted for most of the state, ice and snow are in the forecast for up-country South Carolina. The region is home to many of the evangelical Christians whose support is vital to Huckabee, people like the Hoyt family.

"No matter the weather, I'll be voting," said Mark Hoyt, who came to hear the candidate at the technical college in Greenville, accompanied by wife Leslie and daughter Alyssa, 13, for whom seeing Huckabee was her home-school history lesson of the day.
